Reasons Why 3D Rendering Is Essential

These days 3D rendering is essential because it is everywhere. In fact, it is probably in far more places than you realize. This article covers just a few of the places where 3D rendering is making a big difference. These are just some of the many ways that 3D rendering and visualization have become essential.

CGI in Movies and TV Shows

This one probably comes as no surprise since Marvel has pretty much ensured that now every movie’s action scenes are 90% green screen covered with CGI. However, you have to think back to just a few years ago when computer animation and movie tricks were super expensive. Even on TV shows like CSI Miami and Smallville, the visual effects would cost an absolute fortune because 3D rendering was in its infancy.

Medical Imaging

Have you ever had an MRI and take a look at the results? The images you are seeing are those created by the MRI machine and its software, but the visualizations you are looking at are computer-generated images. They are 3D renderings of information that have been set out in a way that makes it both useful and easier to look at.

Architectural Renderings

This is one area where 3D rendering has made such a difference that it is hard to understand how designers used to do their jobs without it. Designers are able to create plans for a building, create a visual rendering, and then move and alter the design within the 3D rendering. Plus, they can add parameters to the design so that you can test things like weight, balance, tension, and so forth. In addition, they can use a POV camera to view their designs from many different angles, and they can use VR to walk around in their designs.

Prototyping and 3D Printing

This is another one that goes without saying because when you print something in 3D, you often get to see the 3D rendering before you start to print. Most types of prototyping are made easier and faster with the use of 3D rendering. It allows people to see what they are going to build, and just like architects, they are able to add gamification features to test their prototypes. For example, somebody creating a squirt gun could add water and pass it through the mechanism to see if there are any areas that are not cleared of water.

Gaming and Virtual Reality

Modern 3D rendering and computer animations are the staple and lifeblood of the gaming industry. Plus, we are now in the era where motion capture plays a big part in game development. This allows people to record videos of real humans and real-world objects, and then add layers (skins) onto those videos to create CGI representations for the games. The gaming industry relies on 3D rendering so much that they are the biggest users of rendering farms such as Rebusfarm.net. Game developers are by far the biggest users of cloud rendering and processing services because they rely on 3D rendering so much.

Safety Training

We used to live in a world where most safety training videos were either terribly produced and terribly acted video skits, or were made with 2D animation. However, these days, it is quicker to create 3D animation than 2D animation, and that is why safety training content wouldn’t be the same without 3D rendering. The great thing about animation is that companies can demonstrate the risk and the consequence when they are teaching staff members. They can show the irresponsible person stacking the box and can show the box falling on the character’s head.

Hazard and Training Simulations

There are now hundreds of these, especially thanks to the rise in VR. There are firefighting simulations, army simulations, flight simulations, and even bomb disposal simulations. These are all made possible thanks to 3D rendering, which is yet another reason why 3D rendering is so darn essential in our modern age.
