4 Ways to Enhance Your Business’s Cybersecurity

Business in the 21st century is practically all done digitally and online, which makes cybersecurity more important than ever before. While digital networks are pretty much universal these days, it seems that fraudsters are becoming more innovative by the day. This is why defending your company against cyber risks is something you need to think about. It’s a non-negotiable, really.

To help you get started, we’ve listed four ways to enhance your business’s cybersecurity. From regularly changing your passwords to implementing cloud security systems, each tip will boost the safety of your business to no end. Let’s dive in!

1. Use Cloud Security Systems

Enlisting the help of cloud security systems is one way to reinforce your defenses against a cyberattack. Programs like Orca’s SideScanning are incredibly beneficial for ensuring safety, as it helps to safeguard your foundation without interrupting the workload for assessment. Plus, its out-of-band process helps keep your assets covered without using agents.

Having cloud security systems also ensures that all your applications and data are readily available to authorized users. So this means that only the people approved by the system can access all of your business’ private and important information.

2. Passwords

Having strong passwords in place has always been important for maintaining online safety. They’re probably the first thing you think of when defending against a cyber attack, and effective security usually starts with such.

When it comes to achieving the most indestructible password of all, you need to keep the following in mind:

  • Don’t make it something easy to guess like “password” or “1234”
  • Don’t use a password that has a relation to you (no names or dates of birth)
  • Use both lowercase and uppercase letters
  • Use special characters
  • Use a few numbers
  • Screen timeouts are highly advised

You also need to make sure you regularly change or update your passwords. Under no circumstances should you use the same password for multiple accounts. Also, don’t write them down in places where people can see them. For instance, on a post-in note underneath your keyboard or in your daily planner.

Finally, make sure you have to verify and identifying processes in place, too. This will provide added security.

3. Make Sure You Have Up-to-Date Computer Updates

Regardless of your operating system, whether it be Java or Adobe, you must have the latest updates to improve your protection from cyber attacks. In terms of anti-malware and anti-ransomware, some products are designed to block dangerous code from inception, whereas others use grey lists to spot and eradicate suspicious behavior.

So, making sure that everything is constantly up-to-date is important because cyber threats evolve quickly, and you need to ensure that you’re prepared to withstand attacks and maintain the efficiency of your system.

4. Ensure You Have Mobile Device Security

It’s not just workstations and office servers that require constant attention and updates. You also need to keep a close eye on mobile devices. Cybercriminals are just as talented at accessing networks and robbing data via smartphones and tablets.

Make sure your business closes the gap and reduces this risk by taking the latest and equal safety measures for mobile devices. Train your employees to use all of their devices with caution.

Stay One Step Ahead of the Game

You need to implement these four tips if you’re a business owner. For your company’s safety, you must ensure that you and your staff follow proper protocols. Be constantly aware of your cybersecurity and do everything you can to prevent hacks and attacks from happening. These four tips are a great place to start. Best of luck!
