TechLila respects your privacy. This policy explains what information the website at techlila.com collects, how it is used, who it is shared with, and the choices you have. It applies to this website only, not to sites we link to.

Who runs this site
TechLila is an independent technology publication founded in 2010. Questions about this policy or about your data go through the contact page or to admin[@]techlila.com.
What we collect
Information you give us
- Comments. When you comment on an article we store the name, email address and website you enter, the comment text, your IP address and browser identifier, and the time of posting. Your name and comment are public; your email address is not. The avatar beside a comment comes from Gravatar, which our server looks up with a hashed form of the email address.
- Contact form. Messages sent through the contact form reach us by email, sent through Google’s Gmail service. The site’s mail log keeps a copy of every outgoing email, contact messages included, for 30 days and then deletes it. Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a person is sending the form.
Information collected automatically
- Server and security logs. Our hosting provider, our content delivery network (Cloudflare) and our security plugins record IP addresses, requested pages, timestamps, browser type and referring pages. These logs are used to keep the site running, block attacks and spam, and diagnose faults.
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which articles are read, from which countries and on which devices, in aggregate. Google sets cookies for this and processes the data on our behalf under Google’s privacy policy. IP anonymization is applied by Google Analytics 4 by default. Google Signals is enabled, so Google Analytics can also report aggregate demographics and cross-device use for visitors signed in to a Google account that allows ad personalization. Analytics data is kept for 14 months.
- Usage recordings. We use Microsoft Clarity, which records how visitors scroll, click and move through pages and builds heatmaps and session replays. Clarity masks the text you type into forms. Microsoft processes this data under Microsoft’s privacy statement.
- Consent. Visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland see a banner asking whether Google Analytics and Clarity may use cookies. Until you accept, both run without cookies. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a refusal wherever you are and show no banner.
- Cookies. Google Analytics sets
_gacookies and Clarity sets_clckand_clsk. If you answer the consent banner, atl_consentcookie remembers your choice for 180 days. The site itself sets no other cookies for readers. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site still works without them.
How we use it
- Publishing and moderating comments, and replying to messages you send us.
- Measuring which articles are useful and improving them.
- Protecting the site against spam, abuse and attacks.
- Meeting legal obligations, such as responding to a lawful request.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not run a newsletter or send marketing email.
Who we share it with
Personal information is shared only with the service providers that run the site for us, each bound by its own privacy terms: our web host, Cloudflare (delivery, bot protection and form checks), Google (analytics and email delivery), Microsoft (usage recordings), Amazon (link localization), our comment spam filter, which runs on our own server, and our security and backup providers. We share aggregate statistics, which identify no one, with partners and advertisers. We disclose personal information to authorities only when the law requires it.
Advertising, sponsored posts and affiliate links
TechLila earns money from sponsored articles, which are labeled as such, and from affiliate links. If you buy a product through an affiliate link we may receive a commission at no extra cost to you; such links are often marked with “/refer/” in the address. Affiliate networks may set their own cookies when you click through. Every page also loads Amazon’s OneTag script, which sends Amazon links to the Amazon store for your country; Amazon receives your IP address and browser details when it loads. We do not currently serve third-party display advertising. If that changes, this policy will be updated and any advertising partner will be named here. Embedded content and links
Articles may embed videos or posts from services such as YouTube, Vimeo and social networks. Those embeds behave as if you had visited the other site: the service may collect data about you, set cookies and track your interaction. Links to other websites lead to privacy practices we do not control; read their policies before you share information there.
How long we keep it
Comments and their metadata stay on the site until you ask us to remove them. Server and security logs are kept for a short period, typically days to a few weeks, and then deleted or rotated. Analytics data is retained for the period set in Google Analytics, currently 14 months. Emails you send us are kept as long as needed to answer you, and copies in the site’s mail log are deleted after 30 days. Your consent choice stays in your browser for 180 days.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, including under the EU and UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act and India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to have it deleted, to object to or restrict its use, or to receive a copy. Send requests through the contact page or to admin[@]techlila.com; we will answer within 30 days and may ask you to confirm your identity first. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS, protected by a web application firewall and malware scanning, and backed up regularly. No website can promise absolute security, so please do not send us sensitive information such as passwords or payment details.
Children
TechLila is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has left personal information here, contact us and we will remove it.
International transfers
Our servers and the providers named above may process data outside your country, including in the United States and the European Union. Where required, those providers rely on standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, the date at the top is updated. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised policy. Previous versions are available on request.
