If you own a new Samsung Galaxy Note 9 or you buy a used one, you most likely know how well it performs. The extremely efficient processor, its amazing display and the camera are the highlights of this device.

But, if you want to really enjoy your Galaxy Note 9, you should dig deeper and find the hidden features, which take the user’s experience to the next level. So, here’s a list of the top 7 features of the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 you’ve probably never heard of.

Enjoy Longer and Slower Motion Videos

The Galaxy Note 9 has taken a new feature from the Galaxy S9. It can record in 960 fps super slow motion for extremely detailed and Hollywood-movie style videos. But if you own or buy used Note 9, you’ll find that it includes an upgrade.

So, while on the S9, the smartphone will capture 0.2 seconds of video in 960 fps and expand it to 6 seconds of viewing, on the Note 9 you’ll notice the ability to also record 0.4 seconds. And, to select the option just click the 0.2 tab which is above the shutter. The only downside is that Note 9 will only record 0.4 seconds slo-mo videos in 480p quality mode, despite recording 0.2 seconds at 720p high-quality.

White Ink is Back

You can choose to have the S pen for your Samsung Galaxy Note S9 in yellow or purple. These new colors not only match the innovative shades of the smartphone but they’ll also write in yellow or purple ink.

But, if you’re not a fan of these colors, you can always switch back to white ink. Head over to the Settings of the S pen under the Advanced features section, click on Screen off memo and deactivate the Use S Pen signature color button.

Check Out the New Landscape Mode for Your Home Screen

Although the feature was included in the Oreo upgrade of the Note 8, you’ll find it by default in the Note 9. So, if you usually turn your phone to watch videos or read in landscape mode, with Note 9 you can just activate this feature.

Go to Note 9’s Settings and click the Portrait mode only toggle to turn it off. Your home screen will appear in landscape mode when you turn your phone.

Deactivate Flaw Detection and Scene Optimizer

Although Note 9 shares the same camera with the S9+, you have the additional option to turn on or off the scene optimizer and the flaw detection features. The scene optimizer is an AI-powered feature which adjusts the level of color and exposure based on what you’re recording. And the flaw detection feature will tell you if the person in the shot blinked or moved.

Although these two capabilities are useful, you can also turn them off. Go to Note 9’s Settings and access the Camera app. Here, you’ll find the two buttons for these features which you can activate or deactivate, depending on your preferences.

The S Pen Can Remotely Unlock Your Note 9

Although the S Pen can control other apps on the Note 9 such as the camera, you can also remotely unlock your device with it. Tap the Unlock with S Pen Remote button in the Settings of the S Pen and turn on the option. After activation, you can press the S Pen’s button to remotely unlock the Note 9. But if the Smart Lock isn’t activated, you still must use your chosen biometric security option.

Deactivate Bixby Home

Although the button which turns off Bixby was removed on the Note 9, you can still turn off Bixby Home. But you can’t do it in the Bixby Home Settings.
So, to find it, press the home screen to activate the customization screen. After it appears, you should swipe right until you get to the 1st screen. On this screen, you’ll notice a Bixby Home tab. Click on it so it turns off. You’re good to go now.
