When you are at college or university, you have a lot of research, assignments and exams to prepare for. You are always busy with a growing list of things you have to learn and complete. For a lot of students, this is newly found responsibility and something they aren’t use to. In particular, some students can feel overwhelmed with their new learning environment and it can take time to adjust. There are over 76 million students across the US feeling the same way.

The good news is that academic transcription is growing in popular due to the benefits it can offer students. In particular, it can alleviate the stress felt by students when they are starting out with this new learning experience. No longer do you have to worry about being left behind in lecturers or during presentations. Instead, academic transcription can help capture all of the key information you need.

Of course, transcription has been around for many years. In particular, there are transcription companies that cover all industries. But technology continues to progress and this means that there are now automated academic transcription. Is automation a good fit for academic transcription?

The Advantages of Automation

Take this example. You are recording your lectures in order to keep up with class. After all, taking notes means that you always miss something or cannot take in what the professor is saying. With academic transcription, you can turn your recordings into transcripts that you can use for notes. Problem solved.

But what do we mean by automated transcription? Essentially, this is using software to translate audio into a transcript. Modern technology can do this without using manual transcriptionists for the job. It is a relatively new concept but one that works well across a variety of industries.

The first concern that any student has when it comes to transcription services is money. Students can’t afford to pay some of the professional companies the prices they are asking for academic transcription. But the good news about automated academic transcription with modern software is that it works out a lot cheaper. Instead of paying a company with every lecture or presentation, you can invest in transcription software. This a lot affordable and can cover all of your transcription needs.

A lot of people assume that transcription services that are manual are going to be more accurate. However, this is not necessarily true. In fact, people can still make mistakes and accuracy can depend on a number of factors. This can include the clarity of the recording, experience, and training of the transcriptionist. Automation can still deliver great accuracy and the benefit is that it can do this in half the time. The software allows for quick academic transcription, which a lot of students will need to keep up with their studies. Therefore, if you’re in a rush for transcription, you don’t have to pay more to a company or have to wait on their turnaround schedule. Instead, automation makes this process a lot easier and quicker to enjoy.
