How to Take a Screenshot in Windows 10

Avatar of John Hannah John Hannah
Last updated on: December 9, 2020

When we’re looking for information on the internet, we often need to take screenshots or share our screen with colleagues, friends, or followers, via social media or WhatsApp. There are various apps available, allowing you to take screenshots with ease on Windows, Linux, Mac, Android, and iOS, for free.

These are versatile, practical apps, designed to make our work easier. If you want to find out how to take a screenshot on Windows 10, one of the best options is Gyazo: an excellent open-source app allowing users to take these types of screenshots, which can be downloaded from https://gyazo-for-chrome.en.softonic.com/

What is Gyazo?

As we’ve already noted, Gyazo, by Toshiyuki Masui Nota Inc., is one of the best open-source screenshot apps for Windows 10, Mac, Linux, Android and iOS, allowing users to share images on social media and the internet via a link, as well as offering various cropping tools.

Another of its great advantages is that it allows users to make short recordings and convert these to video, GIF, or playback files. And if you want to see how your screenshot will look before sharing it on social media, Gyazo also offers a preview feature.

How does Gyazo work?

When you download the app, you’ll need to create an account, if you don’t already have one. Once logged in, you’ll be able to access all the images you’ve captured, stored on the cloud server: providing limited storage space for each member. To share images, all you need to do is click on the button on the right of the file, in order to create a shareable link – ensuring that you comply with the app’s terms and conditions at all times.

There are two types of registration available: free registration and Pro, or paid registration. The first only offers access to basic functions, while Pro accounts can make use of advanced editing tools and remove all ads from the app.

What’s more, it also allows us to organise our saved screenshots more easily, and access tools such as Gyazo Replay, a replay feature which lets users record the last 30 seconds of gameplay, in order to share highlights of the day with their fellow players. This offers 1080p HD quality, storing clips in mp4 format.

What are the drawbacks of Gyazo?

One of the drawbacks most frequently cited by users is the existence of security problems, such as having access to other members’ conversations or the risk of malware or viruses.

This is due to the software’s open-source nature. To combat this, the company has provided a detailed Privacy Policy, in which they indicate how all this information is collected and stored. To improve on these failings, the company includes random links to enhance security and adds passwords for private images. What’s more, the app also includes secure SSL data encryption from RapidSSL in order to protect any transfers carried out, and even offers an additional verification process which blocks account access from a different IP address.
