If you want a family oriented blog, or one anyone can read, a clean image and design is necessary. By making the blog cleaner, and removing possibly offensive material, you have a broader audience reach, and are going to attract a much larger range of readers to your blog; these are some tips to help you get that clean style.
1. Show you are credible
Show you know your content by being credible, and having an authoritative voice. Consider links, and use reference when you are talking about certain content. Regardless of what it is, if you want more viewers, you have to use the right sources, and you have to make sure the content is reliable, if you want readers to trust you, and want to create more readership.
2. Clean the language
Although it might be seen as humorous by some, by an entirely different audience it is offensive. Cleaning up the language, keeping it wholesome, and broadening content, will help get you more readers. Use bold text, underline, and go with mild alternates, to get your point across. Different color fonts are also great, but keep it simple in each different blog post you create.
3. Watch ad choices
Even though you might not have chosen them, if the viewer sees the ads as offensive, they are going to blame you. In some cases, you don’t choose ads, your ad company simply chooses them. So, if there are ads that might be seen as offensive by some, call your advertising and marketing team, and get them to work on changing these ads, to something that is more universal, and will appeal to a broader group of your readers.
4. Exercise control
If you have several writers for your blog, you have to exercise control over the content. Whether it is humor, poor choice of language, you have to control what eventually goes out to your audience. So, you have to sit down with content writers, let them know what is acceptable, and eventually make the changes, in order to ensure your viewers are happy, and you are keeping it wholesome.
5. Clean up links
You have to read what your writers are putting out there. Look at the links and source, and make sure they are family friendly sources. You want to do checks every so often, and have to know what is going out to your readers. If you think it might not be accepted by all readers, you should get rid of content, and get rid of sources, that might be offensive to different viewers.
Blog content, ads, links, and other sources, are all important to ensure you are reaching out to the right audience. If your sources aren’t clean, and if you are creating content that might be offensive to some, you can lose out on a number of possible viewers. Keeping language clean, checking sources, and looking at all content is up to you, and as the blog owner, it is also your responsibility to do this.
